Hi all,
While preparing to step into this new world full of challenges and constantly changing environment, we have taken every foreseeable precaution and thought through multiple different scenarios. In conjunction with other clubs in VJBL, other sporting organizations and also Basketball Victoria, Chelsea Basketball has decided to post pone any organized training or other club sanctioned events. While we were extremely eager to get the ball rolling, we can also not jeopardize the safety of our members and also the image of the club in these difficult times.
Basketball Victorias return to sport document (which will be posted below) is a very thorough document and sections can be interpreted in many different ways. While we were excited to see light at the end of the tunnel we may have also been thinking too optimistically about the first few stages as it pertains to larger clubs such as ours. Seeking further advice we have decided to begin preparations for stage 2 restrictions which are to be announced on may 31st. This will also hopefully give VJBL enough time to decide how to approach the current junior rep season or if there will be one.
As you can all hopefully appreciate, the future of our club and basketball will face many challenges but we will be putting every necessary precaution in place for our members and the longevity of our club. While we are putting in rules and regulations to comply within the stage 2 restrictions, we ask that you continue to show support and patience and also know that every decision made is being thought through very carefully.
