Hi everyone,
In light of recent announcements both from the State Government and Basketball Victoria we are very excited at Chelsea to see that we are nearing the time where we will allowed back into the stadium full steam ahead. It is incredibly important however that we take small steps as asked by Basketball Victoria and continue to be vigilant in our return to sport. After careful consideration with all of the staff and committee, we have decided as a club to begin small group sessions as of next week. We understand there will be time constraints, weather interferences, logistics complications as well but at the end of the day our goal is to slowly ease back into sport following the national guidelines. I will work with Peter Caspersz and Nici Abbot in coming up with a schedule that will benefit not only our junior rep program but also our domestic players. As soon as we have developed a framework that can be implemented within all of the safety constraints and one that will benefit our kids, I will send that out on our teamapp and facebook page.
On an equally important note, Chelsea Basketball will NOT be responsible for any activities not sanctioned by the club. We have been advised not to endorse any trainings (team or otherwise) outside of our specific club sanctioned events held by our immediate staff and also will not take responsibility for any injury or sickness incurred as a result. We are more ready to get back to basketball as much as anyone but we also must do our part in not rushing back only to have our sport taken away from us again. I cannot stress this point enough for all of the coaches, parents and players but also cannot make this decision for every individual. I would ask however, that if you are representing the club in any nature please make it clear that you are acting on your own accord and have not been advised by the club or its staff.
